BMW Releases New Engines for 3-Series Touring and 10 New xDrive Variants

The new 4-Series concept may be one of the stars of the 2013 Detroit Motor Show but that doesn’t mean that BMW is leaving the rest of its line-up alone. Quite the opposite: the Bavaria-based luxury carmaker announced a host of additions to its range, all of which will become available in spring.

In Europe and other select markets, the 3-Series Touring gets a new base gasoline engine with 134HP (136PS) for the 316i and two diesel variants, including the very frugal 2.0-liter for the 320d.

Customers will be able to order BMW’s premium estate with all-wheel drive; in total, six xDrive versions will be added to the 3-Series range, with five of them being made available at launch.

The Limited Edition Lifestyle versions of the 1-Series will also go on sale in spring, as will all-wheel drive variants of the 6-Series.

Finally, BMW announced that the Professional navigation system will be an option for the 1-Series, the X3 and the 6-Series and that the number of its models meeting the EU6 emission standards, which will become effective in September 2014, will grow, though, specific details will be released at a later date.
